As someone who loves working outdoors, cycling and helping important causes, fundraising for a charity like Walk Wheel Cycle Trust was a natural fit for me. The charity has such an important role in helping make the UK a better place for people to walk, wheel and cycle. Not to mention the fact that I have a young child and really want to help make his future a safe place for him to get from A-B. So I approached Inspired People to help me find a role with Walk Wheel Cycle Trust.
Inspired People made the entire process of finding my new role simple. What's more, they helped me transition from my previous position and taught me the skills I needed to do my job effectively. Here’s what an average day looks for me now:
Make sure my iPad is charged.
Pack a picnic and loads of water.
Communicate with my team members and manager.
Cycle along a gorgeous route.
Meet my team member for the shift.
Set up a pitch and put on my kit.
Wave down walkers, wheelers and cyclists and inspire them to join our movement.
Communicate with the other teams via texts or phone calls, setting daily targets and saying well done.
Post-shift tea with team members.
I love that I get to talk about and inspire people to cycle more, all whilst raising important funds for Walk Wheel Cycle Trust. And because I oversee teams of fundraisers in Devon and Cornwall, I have amazing and beautiful sites to work on (come rain or shine) thanks to the National Cycle Network.
If you’re thinking of starting out in fundraising, then I say jump in! You’ll make a difference, meet amazing people and help a great cause that produces results that benefit us all.
