Location: Greenpeace HQ, Islington, London

Salary: £31,260 p.a

Hours: Full time Monday-Friday (some weekends resulting in time in lieu)

Benefits: 28 days paid holiday

Contract Type: Ongoing Temporary Worker Contract

We are looking for people who want to bring their experience and energy to help us do even more to tackle the planet’s biggest environmental issues. To maintain our independence and enable us to campaign without fear of compromise we never accept corporate or government donations, and instead rely wholly on donations from our individual supporters.

As Coordinator of the Instant Messaging Team, you will be directly responsible for the day-to-day delivery of a stable and cost-effective instant messaging fundraising programme. You will manage a team of 6-8 fundraisers, leading by example and encouraging personal development through coaching to ensure your team performs at the highest level.

The Role

  • Line manage up to 2 Team Leaders, and 6-8 Fundraisers, including distance management of home-working staff
  • Ensure that each Fundraiser and Team Leader fully understands their role and responsibilities and is able to achieve their targets and KPIs in line with agreed budgets
  • Set weekly targets for Fundraisers
  • Manage the Fundraiser payroll process on a weekly basis
  • Manage all elements of recruiting new Fundraisers Manage all aspects of on-boarding new Fundraisers, both with new tech and fundraising skills and guidelines
  • Responsible for all team performance results and reconciling against budget
  • Always look to find new ways to innovate and evolve the instant messaging programme
  • Maintain up to date knowledge and understanding of the external environment and market trends
  • As required, fundraise for Greenpeace using the instant messaging platform, to support the Fundraisers and / or provide cover for absences
  • Manage the chat platform technology, including raising support calls for any technological issues and leading projects to source new platforms, when required
  • Contribute to the strategic planning and development of the programme, including participation in planning seminars and away days


The Candidate

Listed below are the requirements needed to undertake this job:

  • Significant campaign management and line management experience
  • Strong operational knowledge of dialogue fundraising
  • Track record of motivating groups of people and performance management
  • IT literate – Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Typing speed of 40 WPM and excellent spelling
  • Understand of IOF regulations and other legislation
  • An understanding of environmental issues and Greenpeace’s campaigns
  • An understanding of Facebook advertising
  • An understanding of instant messenger platforms

Personal Qualities:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, along with the ability to develop strong working relationships with external partners and internal departments
  • Experience in leading fundraising and/or sales teams
  • People management experience and skills
  • Excellent motivational and training skills
  • Strong working knowledge of staff recruitment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to carry out presentations
  • Excellent numerical skills and ability to analyse campaign results
  • Proactive approach to work with a keenness to progress in fundraising
  • Strong team worker and self-motivator
  • Willingness to use initiative and have the confidence to make decisions
